The thought of choosing new rituals can sometimes be daunting. Which one? How many and when do I do them? I would encourage you to ask yourself these questions before you begin.
What am I trying to improve? My physical health, mental health or both?
Are you looking for motivation, relaxation, stress relief, improved sleep, better emotional regulation, clarity/focus, relationship building, self compassion or something else?
What time of day is best for me?
Perhaps it’s something new you want to try or it may be an old comfort you want to return to?
I encourage you to look at the list below, read each one and sit quietly. How does each one feel to you?
Does it intrigue you, excite you, stretch you a little, make you feel good or feel bad? See what comes with each option and write a few words about it. Come back later and prioritize the ones you are drawn to. Here are a few of the most common daily rituals and routines. Don’t limit yourself as you may have more ideas or some of your own that you want to keep.
Journaling
Reading
Write daily, 3 + things you are deeply grateful for
Work out routine
Meditation, short or long - it all makes a difference
Any type of breath work
Writing a kindness letter
Praying to the universe, a God, angels or whatever works for you
Yoga
Set a daily intention
Angel cards
Running
Walking outside
Healthy eating
Listening to soul moving music
Greeting yourself in the morning mirror with a warm smile
Choose the ones that speak to you and create your daily routine. Consider adding one at a time. Choosing too many can lead to overwhelm and create resistance. Change them up by adding or removing. Do whatever FEELS good to you.
Developing a specific time that works for you is so important and can become the time you most look forward to.
Set yourself up for success and if you miss a day due to “life getting lifey” then resume the next day. In addition please use self compassion. If you get off track, do not beat yourself up over it. Simply resume the next day.
This can be hard and you may have to restart from time to time. Remember you are human, not perfect!
I have practiced rituals for about nine years. They have evolved as I have. Recently I added one that has made a real lovely addition in my day and has opened me up to seeing more opportunities. I hope you find the routine that works for you and feel free to switch up to others that call you as your life evolves.
My daily rituals start at 6:15 am.
This particular time works for me as I am a morning person🌟
Smile warmly at myself in the bathroom mirror
Make coffee and read my angel cards (these are a new addition since the last 4 months)
Read a daily inspiration book. Mine is Journey to the Heart
Read Animal Spirit Guides to support my daily intention that I set for myself
Gratitude list. I add one or more things daily on 3 ringed paper
Journal. All things great and challenging are written here leading to reflection and inspiration. If nothing else, this helps take the hard edges off the challenging things in life.
Meditation. I mostly use a medtation app where I have created a "favorites" list that are between 8-15 minutes long. This sets my mood for the day and can definitely shift my mood later in the day if I need a reset. When I am looking for a longer period I use Dr. Wayne Dyer's, Japa meditation - my all time fave!
Walk my dog in the fields for 40-45 minutes
This may seem like a lot but my day starts early and my mornings are much less busy than they used to be.
I encourage you to build a consistent daily practice that feeds your soul🙏🏻 You are so worth it!
With much kindness
Michelle
